Lancaster Art Collectors is pleased to work with Claire Giblin, a USPAP qualified appraiser of fine art, and accredited member of Appraisers Association of America specializing in Post-War, Contemporary and Emerging Art. Claire’s immersion in art – as an artist, former Curator of Exhibitions at The Phillips Museum of Art, gallery owner and supporter of the arts –brings a unique and deep understanding of art to the valuation process.
Claire is known for her expressive use of color on large canvases, often inspired by poetry or sacred writing. In this painting “Icy Pond,” Claire found inspiration in a poem, “January Morning,” by C. Khala Ghahri, which ends with:
The sun moves slowly above a white horizon as though it is so heavy with winter it can barely move. Thick with ice, the pond becomes a fiery orange jewel. This light, this color, this utter beauty…it is too much to bear, and I turn away as I am sure I would be blinded—or broken hearted.
